Coach Referral Protocol

If the needs of the coaching member are outside the scope of practice for a health and wellness coach, they should be provided with information on employer-sponsored and other available resources. Review client specific info in CoachSpect to determine if we have direct referral set-up, or if we share contact information.

Depending on the needs of the member, this may include:

Encouraging member to follow up with primary care provider for medical care

o   Members needing assistance with diagnosis and treatment

o   Members needing clarification on treatment plan for health condition

Employee Assistance Program

o   EAPs offer a wide range of services

o   Review available info in CoachSpect

o   If no EAP info on file, encourage member to reach out to their Benefits/HR offices for information

Disease Management and other specialized services available

o   Review benefits shared by client group in CoachSpect and share contact information as appropriate

o   Many employers offer a wide range of additional resources around condition management, medication management, etc.

o   Familiarize yourself with what is available to your members by reviewing client info in CoachSpect

General resources

o   Many government and state agencies provide free services that your member may benefit from.

o   A quick online search can help you identify other resources that your member may benefit from based on their needs.
